About Idea Financial
Idea Financial provides lines of credit and term loans to small businesses, sold directly and through a broker network. Everything after the application runs on RYNO, our in-house lending and servicing platform. RYNO covers the full loan lifecycle: applications and offers, draws and approvals, payment schedules, nightly loan maintenance, renewals, and the daily ACH files that move money. Underwriting, servicing, finance and collections use its Backoffice every day. Merchants use the customer portal and mobile app, and brokers use the broker portal and API.
Role Overview:
We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own core parts of RYNO, end to end. You'll design and build features, fix production issues in loan and payment logic, and review code from our distributed team. This is a hands-on role close to the business. When a renewal skips a payment or a fee posts at the wrong time, you'll trace it through the code, size the impact in the data, and ship the fix and the remediation. You'll work directly with product, QA, finance and servicing, not behind layers of process.
What you'll work on:
- Loan servicing logic. Build and maintain the calculators and nightly maintenance that drive interest accrual, payment schedules, fees, renewals and loan status changes. Correctness here is measured in dollars.
- Payments and ACH. Own the payment flows and NACHA file generation, including cutoff timing, holiday and weekend date shifting, returns, and reconciliation with Finance.
- Draws and underwriting tooling. Extend the draw approval workflow and its risk warnings so underwriting can make fast, informed decisions.
- Integrations. Keep RYNO in sync with Salesforce, bank data providers such as Plaid, our marketing platform, and partner marketplaces.
- Backoffice, portals and APIs. Deliver features across the Backoffice, customer portal, broker portal and public API.
- AI and internal tooling. Extend our in-house MCP server, which gives AI tools secure, read-only access to RYNO data, and the automations built on it.
- Production support. Investigate incidents, write clear root-cause analyses, and plan data remediation with the affected teams.
- Code review and mentoring. Review pull requests from in-house and offshore developers and raise the bar on design, testing and readability.
Our stack:
- Backend - C# / .NET services and APIs
- Data - Relational SQL database for servicing, auth and loan data
- Front end - Backoffice, customer and broker portals, mobile app (framework recently modernized)
- Source and CI/CD - Azure DevOps: Git repos, pull requests, YAML pipelines with shared templates
- Cloud - AWS: Lambda, S3, Secrets Manager, Bedrock; infrastructure as code in Terraform
- CRM - Salesforce: Apex, SOQL, flows; two-way sync with RYNO
- Payments - NACHA/ACH files with our bank partners; Plaid for bank data
- Edge and web - Cloudflare, Google Tag Manager
- AI - In-house MCP server; Claude Code and other AI coding tools
- Work tracking - Jira, Microsoft Teams
How we work:
- Small, distributed team. Engineering leadership and product are in the US, with a development and QA team in Poland. You'll collaborate across time zones daily.
- Written tickets. Work is tracked in Jira as user stories with Given/When/Then acceptance criteria. Bug tickets include the root cause, affected records and proposed fix.
- Reviewed and tested. Every change goes through a pull request review in Azure DevOps. QA validates each story against its acceptance criteria and maintains an automated test suite.
- Versioned releases. We ship numbered releases with a release checklist, regression testing and a go/no-go sign-off from the business, plus hotfixes when production needs them.
- AI-assisted development. We use Claude Code and similar tools for implementation, investigation and review. We expect you to use them well and to check their output with the same rigor you'd apply to a colleague's.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years building production systems in C# and .NET.
- Strong SQL: you design schemas, write complex queries, and use data to confirm a bug's scope before fixing it.
- Experience with financial logic where precision matters: money, dates, time zones, business days and cutoffs.
- A track record of owning features end to end, from design through production support.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure, ideally Azure DevOps and AWS.
- Clear written English. You can write a root-cause analysis or a ticket that a PM, QA and Finance can all act on.
- Comfortable reviewing others' code and giving direct, constructive feedback.
- Regular, effective use of AI coding tools in your day-to-day work.
Nice to have:
- Lending, fintech or payments experience, especially loan servicing, lines of credit or ACH/NACHA.
- Salesforce development (Apex, SOQL) or integration experience.
- Terraform and AWS IAM.
- Experience with bank-data APIs such as Plaid.
- Experience building MCP servers or other LLM tooling.
- Experience working with offshore or distributed teams.
- Spanish, which many of our Miami colleagues speak.
