Protecting Your Data: Requirement to Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Release date: June 7, 2023

At Idea Financial, we take protecting your data very seriously, and we understand that the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of your data is vital to you and your business. As your partner in protecting your data, we're announcing that, starting June 12, 2023, Idea Financial will begin requiring customers to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in order to access our technology products. MFA is available at no extra cost.

What is MFA and why is Idea Financial requiring it?

MFA is a secure authentication method that requires users to prove their identity by supplying two or more pieces of evidence (or “factors”) when they log in. At Idea Financial, the first factor is your username and password. The second factor is a text message (SMS) that is sent to your phone with a code that only you can see. Once you enter the code, you will be considered “verified” and your account will remain safe from anyone who may have gained access to your username and password alone. Using this 2-step verification allows us to verify it’s really you trying to log in.

The global threat landscape is constantly evolving, and the types of attacks that can hurt your business are on the rise. MFA is one of the easiest, most effective tools in protecting your account and safeguarding your business and data against security threats.

Who is affected by this change?

All users at your company who log in to Idea Financial technology products through the user interface must use MFA.

When does the MFA requirement go into effect?

The requirement begins on June 12, 2023. We encourage you to begin planning now for this change.
